Sophos SafeGuard Disk Encryption (SDE): emergency CD not available for eSATA systems

Issue
You attempted to use the Emergency CD to recover a computer, however, you cannot boot from the CD. The affected computer includes an eSATA hard disk.

Sophos product and version
Sophos SafeGuard Disk Encryption

What to do

Unfortunately, there were no eSATA drivers available when the SDE Emergency CD image was created.

If you have drivers for your hard disk, you can prepare a bootable floppy disk with the drivers, and then use the Emergency Tools to copy the SDE files you need for an emergency disk. In the Emergency Tools wizard, select the option to Create kernel backup and copy the Sophos SafeGuard Disk Encryption emergency tools. Add these files to the bootable floppy disk containing the hard disk drivers.

If you do not have the drivers for your hard disk, we recommend that you re-install the Windows operating system on the computer in order to resolve the problem.

If you need more information or guidance, then please contact technical support.
