Advisory: The Sophos enterprise and small business updates to be released 26 February 2009 will require a reboot
We are incorporating a number of maintenance updates to Sophos Anti-Virus, Sophos Client Firewall and Sophos NAC into the monthly enterprise and small business updates to be released 26 February 2009.
For these updates to take effect, depending on which operating system is installed, you may need to reboot endpoint computers. In this release, we have suppressed endpoint reboot requests by default, so that requests will only be sent to the console.
Computers with the following operating systems will require a reboot:
- For Sophos Anti-Virus update: Windows 2000, Windows XP and Windows 2003
- For Sophos Client Firewall update: Windows 2000, Windows XP and Windows Vista
- The Sophos NAC update: Windows 2000, Windows XP and Windows Vista
The reboot will enable the installation of:
- driver updates for integrated anti-rootkit in Sophos Anti-Virus
- driver updates for Sophos Client Firewall
- a newer version of the NAC quarantine agent
Existing protection will not be compromised in the interim before the required reboot is completed.
