To check that Sophos Anti-Virus for Windows 2000+ web content scanning, is functioning, run a test using the EICAR test string.

1. Open Internet Explorer, browse to http://www.eicar.org Click 'Anti-Malware Testfile'.
2. Scroll down to the Downloads area, and click to download a copy of Eicar.com.
3. You should see a message in Internet Explorer, saying: 
   'Blocked Request: location contains malicious content' and detailing the threat as the EICAR-AV-Test.
   This indicates that Sophos web content scanning is working correctly.
