Sophos Anti-Virus: Vista Security Centre is reporting Sophos Anti-Virus is not installed

The Windows Security Centre reports that Sophos Anti-Virus is not installed on your endpoint computer.

What to do
This problem affects many different anti-virus product vendors and is caused by an issue with the Windows Security Center. Microsoft has released the following knowledgebase article and hotfix to deal with the problem:

However, Sophos customers have reported that the hotfix does not always work. Sophos support have prepared the following guidance for installing the Microsoft hotfix.
Following the instructions on the Microsoft site, after typing the first command, you may encounter the following error message:
WMI repository is not consistentIf you do, run the second command:
winmgmt /salvagerepositoryInitially, this may fail with the following error:
WMI repository salvage failed
Error code: 0x8007041B
Facility: Win32
Description: A stop control has been sent to a service that other running sevices are dependent on.This error occurs because the WMI services need time to stop and restart. Wait a few seconds when you see:
WMI repository has been salvaged
And then try again. Reboot the endpoint computer.
