Sophos Anti-Virus for Windows 2000+: the Sophos GUI does not open

Issue
The Sophos Anti-Virus GUI does not open, it hangs at the splash screen. This can be caused by a problem with Sophos services.

Sophos product and version:
Sophos Anti-Virus for Windows 2000+, 7.3.3

Operating system:
Windows 2000+

What to do

Stop and then re-start the following processes and services. For details of how to do this refer to Knowledgebase article 11299 .

In Windows Task Manager stop the following processes:
- SAVService.exe
- SAVAdminService
In Windows Services stop the following services:
- Sophos Anti-Virus
- Sophos Anti-Virus status reporter
In Windows Services start the following services:
- Sophos Anti-Virus
- Sophos Anti-Virus status reporter.

You should now be able to open the Sophos Anti-Virus GUI.
