Error 0x00000071 is a generic 'connectivity' error. It is generated when Sophos Anti-Virus, running on a client computer, fails to update itself.
Since the error is generic, so are the solutions - troubleshoot the ability of the client computer to connect to the network.
For example :
- Ensure the client-computer is actually connected to the network
- Ensure the computer has only one enabled network card, and that it's the one connected to the network
- Ensure the updating Policy on the client computer is valid, and the path to it is accessible
Note : Error 0x00000071 will clear following the next successful update.
