Sophos NAC: Re-installion of Sophos NAC after a NAC uninstall and a SQL server uninstall produces a SQL
Re-installation of Sophos NAC after a NAC uninstall and a SQL server uninstall produces a SQL error that causes the re-installation to fail. The Sophos NAC uninstall does not delete any of the NAC databases. The uninstall removes only the files that were used to created the databases and not the actual databases themselves. If you uninstall the SQL server instance, the NAC database files will remain because the SQL server instance uninstall will not remove them. In this scenario, the NAC re-install will produce a SQL server error.
What to do
If you have uninstalled the SQL server instance and you want:
- To keep the NAC database files, back them up to a different location, re-install Sophos NAC, and then re-attach the databases to the SQL server instance.
- To delete the databases and complete a fresh installation, you must also delete the following database files:
AlertStore_Data.mdf and AlertStore_Log.ldf
AuditStore_Data.mdf and AuditStore_Log.ldf
GeneralStore_Data.mdf and GeneralStore_Log.ldf
PolicyStore_Data.mdf and PolicyStore_log.ldf
ReportStore_Data.mdf and ReportStore_Log.ldf
ReportStoreCache_Data.mdf and ReportStoreCache_Log.ldf
ReportStoreWH_Data.mdf and ReportStoreWH_Log.ldf
SecurityStore_Data.mdf and SecurityStore_Log.ldf
Note: Text of the SQL error is "Error executing SQL command." This error should not occur unless you have uninstalled your SQL server instance.
