Sophos Control Centre: Updates not downloading and errors are displayed
Issue
Updates are not downloading, and any one of several errors may be seen:
- Update fails with error,
0x8007046a The path to the directory could not be verified
and
error detected was getlibraryinfo failed - The Control Centre has not been downloading updates recently.When you open the control center, you may see a message similar to:
No updates have been downloaded from Sophos in the last XX days... - When you go to Windows Event Viewer, and double-click the Sophos EM Library event log icon in the tree on the left, you see errors similar to this:
The \\Server\Sophos library deploy task has failed. INDEX 0x80040701
Could not access the EM library...........
Could not open requested resource "\\Server\Sophos\mcid.lok" for writing. VFS 0x80070005

Operating system
Windows 2003 SBS SP2
What to do
- Browse to C:\Program Files\Sophos\SCC\
- Right click on Library and go to 'Sharing and Security'.
- On the Sharing tab, ensure that the following details are set:
- Share name = Sophos
- User limit = maximum allowed
- Permissions = Everyone with Full Control
- If your settings are different, change them to those above.
- If the settings are the same, unshare the folder and then reshare it with the same details as above.
- Once changed, open the Sophos Control Centre and click on 'Update now' on the right hand side.
- You should be able to see if files are downloading by looking in the directory: C:\Program File\Sophos\SCC\Library\Files
