Sophos Anti-Virus for Windows 2000+: web scanning issues
Issue
Sophos Web Content Scanning is not working in the way you expect.

What to do
1. Sophos Web Content Scanner appears not to run
- Check to see if web content is being scanned.
- Ensure that Sophos Anti-Virus on-access scanning is enabled.
- Open Internet Explorer and check that third-party browser extensions are set correctly.
- Ensure that the Sophos web content scanner is enabled locally.
2. Sophos Web Content Scanner fails to operate correctly
This can be due to:
- An interaction with another add-on.
There are known issues with some add-ons, for example, with 'RealPlayer 11 Download Plugin' and 'Google Gears'. As a workaround, disable the add-on which is causing the problem. You can do this in Internet Explorer: go to Tools|Manage Add-ons and disable the relevant Add-on. - A side effect of intercepting certain web traffic.
This is a known issue. As a workaround, temporarily disable the Sophos Web Content Scanner. This can be done locally on a client computer or centrally.
