Sophos Diagnostic Utility (SDU): how to download and install

The Sophos Diagnostic Utility (SDU) collects vital system information as well as log files for all Sophos products that are installed on the computer.

If you have been asked by Sophos Technical Support to install and run the Sophos Diagnostic Utility on an affected computer, please read the following download and installation instructions.

Installing the Sophos Diagnostic Utility (Windows)

1. Log into the affected computer using an Administrator account.
2. Visit http://www.sophos.com/tools/sdu144sfx.exe to download the utility. Save it to the Windows desktop.
3. On the Windows desktop, double-click the sdu144sfx.exe icon to begin the installation. If an Internet Explorer alert asks if you wish to run the software, select Run.
4. When the License Agreement is displayed, click Accept if you to accept the terms of the agreement and wish to continue the installation.
5. Check the default destination folder and change it to another location, if necessary, and then click Install.
6. Once installed, you can choose to run the Sophos Diagnostic Utility immediately or wait until later. Select Yes if you wish to run it now.

To run the Sophos Diagnostic Utility later, click Start|Programs|Sophos|Sophos Diagnostic Utility|Sophos Diagnostic Utility.

Installing the Sophos Diagnostic Utility - Zip Version (Windows)

1. Log into the affected computer using an Administrator account.
2. Visit http://www.sophos.com/tools/sdu144.zip to download the utility. Save it to the Windows desktop.
3. On the Windows desktop, double-click on sdu144.zip this should open the archive displaying a folder named sdu.
4. Drag the folder to your desktop to extract the files (Third party zip archive software may refer to file extracting, please see vendor documentation for details).
5. From the sdu directory, run the sdugui.exe to start the Sophos Diagnostic Utility.
6. When the License Agreement is displayed, click I have read and agree... if you to accept the terms of the agreement of usage.

Downloading the Sophos Diagnostic Utility (Mac OS X)

1. Go to http://downloads.sophos.com/tools/Sophos Diagnostic Utility.dmg and save the file to your desktop.
