PureMessage for Microsoft Exchange: installation fails for clusters with extended (Japanese) characters in the group or resource name
Issue
When deploying PureMessage for Microsoft Exchange, any clusters with extended (Japanese) characters in their group or resource name cannot be contacted. You get a message saying that PureMessage failed to retrieve information for the cluster.
Sophos product name and version
PureMessage for Microsoft Exchange, version 3.0.1
Operating system
Windows Servers
What to do
There are two ways to resolve this problem, depending on the version of PureMessage you are using.
- If you are using PureMessage version 3.0.1 or later:
In the cluster requiring a Japanese name, ensure that the operating system’s Locale is set to Japan. (In Windows Server 2000+: Click Start | Control Panel | Regional Options | General tab 'Locale'). - If you are using an earlier version of PureMessage or changing the Operating System’s locale is not an option:
Rename the group or resource without using extended characters.
This is a known issue.
