PureMessage for Microsoft Exchange, version 3: upgrade fails with error message

When you try to upgrade to PureMessage for Microsoft Exchange, version 3, from an earlier version of PureMessage, or from MailMonitor, the following message is displayed:

Setup has detected an older incompatible version of the product on this machine. Please uninstall the existing version and run setup again.

What to do
