Sophos Control Centre: Error a0050013 - cannot access CSIDL appdata folder, reason unspecified error

Issue
The following error is returned when the user attempts to open the Control Centre:

a0050013 Cannot access CSIDL_APPDATA folder. Reason: Unspecified error.

Operating System
Windows 2003 SP1

What to do

Check the permissions in the folder C:\Documents and Setting\All Users\Application Data\Sophos.

It should have:

• Administrators - Full Control
• Creator Owner - Special Permission (Full Control on all subfolders and files)
• Power Users - Modify, Read and Execute, List, Read and Write
• System - Full Control
• Users - Read and Execute, List, Read and Special

You can then clear the alert from the Control Centre.
