Enterprise Console: authorizing a blocked application

Enterprise Console, version 3 and above, with Sophos Anti-Virus for Windows 2000+, version 7 and above, allows you to set an application control policy for groups of computers so you can block or authorize programs.

Note: This re-authorizes the application, as no applications are blocked by default in Sophos Anti-Virus version 7. Applications are either blocked individually in the Authorization tab, or by selecting 'All added by Sophos in the future'.

What to do

  1. In the Policies pane, double-click 'Application Control'.
  2. Double-click the policy you want to change. The Application Control policy dialog box is displayed.
  3. Click the 'Authorization' tab.
  4. In the 'Application Type' list, select the application type. Where applications of a particular type are blocked, the 'Current Status' list will say 'Some blocked' or 'Blocked'.
  5. In the 'Blocked' list, select the application that you want to authorize and use the arrow button to move it to the 'Authorized' list.
  6. Click 'OK' to add it to the list of authorized applications.
