Sophos Anti-Virus: your computers are not up to date and EM Library warns that a package is not available

Your computers have not updated, and when you open the EM Library 'Enterprise Manager' window, in the 'Notifications' pane, the following message is displayed:

Warning: You have a package in use that is no longer maintained on the parent. Click "Select Packages" and subscribe to another package.

When you view the list of packages, a white-cross on a red-circle is displayed alongside the affected package(s). This applies to the packages

What to do

IMPORTANT: These warnings indicate that the package for these products is no longer available from the Sophos databank. This is because the following products (SAV Classic) have been retired since February 2007.

You should upgrade your Sophos Anti-Virus straight away. For details of how to perform the upgrade, refer to the knowledgebase article Enterprise Console: upgrading from products being retired in February 2007.

If you have Sophos Anti-Virus for Windows, as listed above, and are unable to upgrade right now, you should change the databank from which you obtain updates to the following

If you have Sophos Anti-Virus for Mac OS 8/9, v4.1x, you must upgrade now, as packages are no longer available on the Sophos databanks.

The knowledgebase article EM Library: which Sophos databank should I use? describes the Sophos databanks, and explains which one you use. To change the databank from which you obtain updates:

  1. In the EM Library console tree, right-click EM Library and select Properties.
  2. Click the Primary parent tab.
  3. In the dropdown menu, select the appropriate databank address.

IMPORTANT: You must upgrade by the end of June 2007, when packages for these retired products will be withdrawn from all Sophos databanks.
