Sophos Threat Detection Test: how to install
You can install the Threat Detection test tool on most computers running Microsoft Windows (Windows XP/2000/2003/Vista including 64 bit versions) that satisfy the system requirements, with the following exceptions:
- do not install on a computer where Sophos Anti-Virus is already installed
- it is recommended that you do not install it on a server, because when you remove the tool, you must reboot the computer.
What to do
- Log on to the computer you want to scan, using an account that has administrator privileges.
- Go to the download location given in the email instructions that you received, and download the Sophos Threat Detection Test (aprox 37 MB).
- Click 'Open' to extract the file's contents to your computer and start the installation wizard.
- During installation, you will be asked for updating credentials. Enter the username and password given in the email instructions that you received.
Once you have installed the tool, right-click on the shield icon in the task bar, open Sophos Anti-Virus, and click 'scan my computer'. This will initiate a background scan of your local disks. Click 'Manage Quarantine Items' to view any infections.
