Sophos Anti-Virus for Windows 2000+: Windows XP and Windows Vista computers fail to hibernate after installing Sophos Anti-Virus
After installing Sophos Anti-Virus for Windows 2000+ some Windows XP and Windows Vista computers may fail to automatically enter hibernation after the selected period. Manual entry to hibernation is not affected.
What to do
- In the computer system tray, right-click the Sophos shield icon and select 'Configure updating'. For more information on this, refer to the Sophos Anti-Virus User manual.
- In the 'Properties for Sophos AutoUpdates' window, click the 'Schedule' tab. Make a note of how often Sophos Anti-Virus checks for updates. This is displayed in the 'Check for updates every ** minutes' field.
- Exit from Sophos Anti-Virus configuration.
- You must now check the Windows 'System Hibernates:' settings. For details of how to do this, refer to the Windows On-line Help or other Windows documentation.
- Set the number of minutes in the Windows 'System hibernates:' field to be less than the number of minutes that was displayed in the 'Check for updates every ** minutes' field by Sophos Anti-Virus, and noted in step 2 above.
