Sophos Client Firewall: Task Scheduler blocked at startup on Windows 2000
From the release of Sophos Client Firewall version 1.0.1, all applications that try to run at startup before the firewall has loaded, and are not in the application rules list, will be blocked. This will include Task Scheduler on Windows 2000.
What to do
To allow Task Scheduler to work you will need to add the following rule to the firewall:
Name = mstask.exe
Where the protocol is TCP
and the direction is outbound
Allow it
This does not affect Windows XP, because on that operating system Task Scheduler is run through svchost, and this is included in the Sophos Client Firewall default rule set.
