Sophos Mobile Security: what is detected?
Sophos Mobile Security detects only threats targeted at mobile phones and PDAs. It does not detect threats that run on other operating systems.
The mobile threat types that are detected are as follows:
- Windows Mobile
- Symbian OS.
Thus, a protected mobile phone could still act as a carrier for a Windows desktop computer virus.
Any desktop computer that synchronizes with your mobile phone, or that you transfer files onto, should also be running anti-virus software with on-access scanning enabled. This will allow any threats carried by the mobile phone to be detected before they are run on that computer.
Note:
- Do not synchronize, or otherwise exchange files, with a server that does not use on-access scanning.
- EICAR will only be detected by an on-demand scan.
