Sophos Anti-Virus for Windows: features in version 6.5.0 and 4.6.6

Sophos Anti-Virus for Windows 2000+, version 6.5.0, Sophos Anti-Virus for Windows NT/95/98/Me, version 4.6.6, and several other new versions of Sophos Anti-Virus, have been released on the Sophos databank and are being automatically distributed to existing customers via EM Library.

Sophos Anti-Virus for Windows 2000+, version 6.5.0

This is a large update (around 30 MB). The following features are included:

• New version of Sophos AutoUpdate, 2.1.0.
• It updates automatically from version 6.0.5.
• Support added for the RTM version of Microsoft Windows Vista.
• Includes support for Microsoft Windows Embedded for Point of Service (WePOS).
• Improves scanning performance on computers with less than 256MB of RAM.
• Fixes an issue causing an occasional abort of the SAV32CLI command line scanner.
• Enhancements to cleanup process to ensure that installers and applications are handled efficiently when reboots are required.
• Enables more frequent updates for PureMessage for Windows/Exchange.
• Ensures that if Sophos AutoUpdate is uninstalled and reinstalled, Sophos Client Firewall still updates correctly.
• Updated virus engine, version 2.40.2.

Sophos Anti-Virus for Windows NT, version 4.6.6

• Includes new version of Sophos AutoUpdate, 2.1.0.
• Reduced RAM usage through more efficient virus data loading.
• Updated virus engine, version 2.40.2.

Sophos Anti-Virus for Windows 95/98/Me, version 4.6.6

• Includes new version of Sophos AutoUpdate, 2.1.0.
• Reduced RAM usage through more efficient virus data loading.
• Updated virus engine, version 2.40.2.

Sophos Anti-Virus for Mac OS X, version 4.8.6

• Changed format of email alerts to strictly comply with MIME RFC.
• Corrected an issue that caused old .IDE files to not be removed following an updated, resulting in an incorrect IDE count.

Sophos Anti-Virus for Linux, version 5.1.1

• Adds support for Novell Open Enterprise Server, SUSE Linux Enterprise Server 10 (32-bit and 64-bit AMD64 compatible). Note: Talpa binary packs may come later.
• Updated virus engine, version 2.40.2.

Sophos Anti-Virus for UNIX/Linux, version 4.12

• Fixes an issue that was causing the virus data to take much longer to load when an initiating a scan.

Sophos Anti-Virus for OpenVMS, version 4.12

• Fixes an issue that was causing the virus data to take much longer to load when an initiating a scan.

Features in virus engine, version 2.40.2

• Adds support for scanning of Office 12 (Microsoft Office 2007) file formats.
• Improved handling of malformed CHM, RAR and CPIO files.
• SAV Interface object initialization has been adjusted to ensure that configurations are preserved when multiple objects are initiated.

Further enhancements were included in Sophos Anti-Virus version 6.0.5, and the other previous versions.
