Sophos Anti-Virus for Mac OS X: exclusions do not work if the non-English name of a 'system' folder is entered manually

With Sophos Anti-Virus for Mac OS X, the names of all non-English System related folders become English when drag and drop, or the file picker, are used to place them in the exclusions window of the SAV preferences pane, or in the Sophos Update Manager. For example in German, /Benutzer/Test/Bilder reverts to /Users/Test/Pictures. This affects all Mac OS X versions, on PPC and on Intel.

If you enter /Benutzer/Test/Bilder manually, or apply it via Enterprise Console, the folder is not excluded. Only the English name for the folder appears to be understood.

What to do

Use drag and drop, or the file picker, to select folders for exclusion.
