Sophos Anti-Virus for Windows: changing port 8194 on a managed client computer
Issue
How to change the RMS port 8194 of a single managed client computer, without affecting other clients.
In the example used in this procedure, we are changing it to port 8198. You need to decide which port to change it to on your system.
What to Do
You must make changes to the registry keys listed below. Sophos recommends that you make a backup copy of the registry, before making any changes to it.
- Change
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\Sophos Message Router]
ImagePath
from:
"C:\Program Files\Sophos\Remote Management System\RouterNT.exe" -service -name Router -ORBListenEndpoints iiop://:8193/ssl_port=8194
to:
"C:\Program Files\Sophos\Remote Management System\RouterNT.exe" -service -name Router -ORBListenEndpoints iiop://:8193/ssl_port=8198 - Change
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Sophos\Messaging System\Router]
ServiceArgs
from:
-ORBListenEndpoints iiop://:8193/ssl_port=8194
to:
-ORBListenEndpoints iiop://:8193/ssl_port=8198 - Restart the
- Sophos Message Router service
- Sophos Agent service.
NOTE: If you 'reprotect' the computer, setup will obtain the values from mrinit.conf in the CID, and the port numbers will revert back to the default.
