Summary of versions supported

This knowledgebase article provides a summary of the Linux versions and kernels that support Sophos Anti-Virus for Linux, version 7. In order to obtain the most up-to-date and definitive list of which Linux kernels and versions are supported, we strongly recommend that you download the text file from the Sophos website. You will require your updating credentials to access this file.

NOTE: Further Linux versions are supported by Sophos Anti-Virus for UNIX/Linux.

Kernel support

This release has been tested on systems with the kernels shown above.

If you recompile Sophos Anti-Virus to support a Linux version unsupported by Sophos, or to use a customized Linux kernel, Sophos reserves the right not to provide support where any such recompilation (or customization) has taken place. Refer to the knowledgebase article on Using a custom built or unsupported kernel.

Memory and disk space

Sophos Anti-Virus for Linux requires the following, in addition to the memory and disk space used by your operating system:

  • Recommended 256 MB of RAM (minimum 70 MB of RAM)
  • Minimum 200 MB hard disk space.

Processor requirements

  • Intel x86 or compatible processor running a 32-bit or 64-bit operating system, including
    • single-processor systems
    • multi-processor systems
    • hyper-threaded systems.
