Sophos Anti-Virus for Windows 2000+: error 3001 reported during installation
When installing Sophos Anti-Virus for Windows 2000+, an error message is present in the installation log file 'Sophos
Error 3001.Installation cannot continue because another anti-virus product is installed on this computer. Uninstall that product and try again.
This message is displayed when another anti-virus product, or the remains of another anti-virus product, is present on the computer.
What to do
- Uninstall the other anti-virus product.
To do this you might have to reinstall that product and then uninstall it again. Restart the computer.
If this does not work, you will need to edit the registry to undo changes made by the Anti-Virus product. Before doing this read the Warning on editing the Windows registry.
- Go to the Windows 'Temp' folder and open the file
Sophos Competitor List.txt.The text file lists the exact registry key that was left behind in the registry by the other anti-virus product.
Remove the key from the registry, then restart the computer.
