Sophos Anti-Virus for Windows 95/98/Me: error message "...WinSock2 (ws2_32.dll) does not exist"

If you try to manually install Sophos Anti-Virus for Windows 95/98/Me version 4.5 (or higher) on a Windows 95 computer, the setup program might fail with the following error message:

This setup program cannot continue as WinSock2 (ws2_32.dll) does not exist.

This can happen if the program w95ws2setup.exe was not run before or during installation.

What to do

Download and install the Windows Socket 2 Update on the computer from the Microsoft website:
www.microsoft.com/windows95/downloads/contents/wuadmintools/s_wunetworkingtools/w95sockets2/

Then re-install Sophos Anti-Virus.
