PureMessage for Windows/Exchange: synchronization with PDAs fails when using ActiveSync

This issue only applies to PureMessage for Microsoft Exchange version 2.6 and earlier.

When you synchronize your personal digital assistant (PDA) with your computer, you are unable to download items that you can see in your Outlook folder. This happens because synchronization with PDAs fails when 'Exchange Information Store' scanning is enabled, but no private store scanning options have been selected in the Databases page.

What to do

Do one of the following:

If you want private store scanning enabled

  1. From the console tree, select Jobs|Exchange Information Store.
  2. Select the Databases tab.
  3. Select one or both of the private store scanning options: 'Private Store Background Scanning' and/or 'Private Store Active Scanning'.
  4. Click 'Apply'.

If you do not want private store scanning enabled

If you only need to scan public folders, you can fix this problem by installing the Microsoft Hotfix 894065. Related issues regarding Server ActiveSync not downloading all items during a synchronization session can also be found on the Microsoft website.
