Enterprise Manager version 1.0x: uninstalling

This product has been retired.

If Enterprise Manager version 1.01 or 1.02 is installed on your computer, you should uninstall it before installing any version of EM Library.

What to do

Before you begin uninstalling Enterprise Manager, close Enterprise Manager and SAVAdmin if necessary.

Uninstalling Enterprise Manager involves

1. Uninstalling the Enterprise Manager library

When uninstalling libraries, note the following:

  • You must uninstall remote libraries before uninstalling the local library.
  • To uninstall the library, you must use the uninstall program. Deleting the library folder is not sufficient, as full uninstallation also involves stopping the library services and changing registry settings.

To uninstall a library

  1. At the server where the Enterprise Manager library is installed, in the Windows taskbar, select Start|Run.
  2. Click 'Browse' and locate "C:\Program Files\Sophos Enterprise Manager\library\bin\setup.exe".
At the end of the path (outside any quotation marks) enter
    -remlib=\\myserver\sophosem
where myserver is the name of your server. You should now see this path
    "C:\Program Files\Sophos Enterprise Manager\library\bin\setup.exe" -remlib=\\myserver\sophosem
  3. Click 'OK'.
  4. After uninstallation, the 'Uninstallation log' message box is displayed. If any errors are reported, email the file
Program Files\Sophos Enterprise Manager\library\bin\install.log with your contact details and details of your network, to support@sophos.com. If the library is not uninstalled correctly, you may encounter problems with upgrading.

Repeat this procedure for any other Enterprise Manager libraries.

2. Uninstalling the Enterprise Manager console

  1. At the Windows task bar, select Start|Programs|Sophos Enterprise Manager|Uninstall Sophos Enterprise Manager.
  2. At the Console wizard dialog, click 'Next'.
  3. At the Console wizard: summary dialog, click 'Next'.
  4. At the Console wizard: result of installation dialog, click 'Finish'.
  5. If uninstallation was successful, click 'Finish'. If it was NOT, click 'View Log'. If there are any errors, click 'View Log'. Copy the entries and email them, with your contact details and details of your network, to support@sophos.com.

3. Deleting the application folder

To complete uninstallation

  1. In Windows Explorer, locate the folder where Enterprise Manager was installed. By default, this is C:\Program Files\Sophos Enterprise Manager.
  2. Delete the folder and all its contents.

If you have any problems, send a copy of the log entries to support@sophos.com.
