With Sophos Anti-Virus for Windows 2000+ if the Sophos
- You will not receive desktop alerts.
- You cannot launch the Sophos desktop menu by right-clicking on the shield.

You cannot launch the Sophos AutoUpdate Graphical User Interface from the Sophos
Anti-Virus window, so automatic updating cannot be configured from the desktop.
What to do
You must enable 'Client for Microsoft Networks' on the affected computers and restart them.
Note: This problem occurs because of a bug in the Microsoft OLE Libraries 4.0, which are included with the Microsoft Platform Software Development Kit (SDK). More information can be found in Microsoft Knowledge Base article number 228487.
