Updating Sophos Anti-Virus

The current versions of Sophos Anti-Virus are designed to be updated automatically to ensure that they are always up to date and that you are fully protected.

Note: Users of these versions are not able to manually download IDEs into a Central Installation Directory (CID) to facilitate updating.

What to do

For networks

You must use EM Library.

For seamless installation, use the Sophos Anti-Virus network installer to install Sophos Enterprise Console and EM Library on a Windows 2000/2003 server. After installation, you can then download, deploy and automatically update Sophos Anti-Virus on Windows, Macintosh, Linux, NetWare and most versions of UNIX. For more information, see how to upgrade Sophos products.

Alternatively, if you have a company with up to 100 users and a network that consists only of Windows 98, Windows Me, Windows 2000, Windows XP and/or Mac OS X computers, you may wish to evaluate one of our small business solutions. Our small business solutions are updated automatically using Sophos AutoUpdate.

For remote or single users

Update directly from Sophos or via your own company webCID. For more information, see Upgrading off-site Windows computers.

If you cannot use EM Library to update your network

Please contact technical support to discuss your requirements.

Note: You can continue to use Sophos Anti-Virus for Windows and Mac OS X, versions in maintenance, for now. Support for these versions will end when they reach their retirement date.

If you need more information or guidance, then please contact technical support.
