How to disable detection for virus protection in the Windows Security Center in Windows XP
The Windows Security Center (WSC), which is part of Windows XP Service Pack 2 (SP2), monitors virus protection on the computer. However, in certain circumstances it can report an up-to-date copy of Sophos
You can disable the reporting of virus protection by the WSC, while retaining its other features.
What to do
- Open the Windows Security Center
- In 'Virus Protection' click 'Recommendations'
- Select 'I have an antivirus program that I'll monitor myself'
- Click 'OK'.
