Sophos Anti-Virus for Windows: how to check that your copy of the version in maintenance is up to date
This product is nearing retirement. We strongly recommend that you upgrade in order to ensure your protection stays fully up to date.

What to do
Identifying the latest version of Sophos Anti-Virus
- Browse to http://www.sophos.com/downloads/ide/
- Scroll down to 'Identity files (IDEs) by version'
- Make a note of the current version.
Note: All the other versions listed on this web page are also supported as current by Sophos, and virus identity (IDE) files for them are available.
Identifying the most recent virus identity (IDE) file
- In the web page http://www.sophos.com/downloads/ide/
- Scroll down to 'Individual IDEs for all supported versions of Sophos
Anti-Virus (SAV)' - Make the cursor hover over the topmost 'Download IDE' button
- Note the name of the IDE file it is for (e.g. apribotc.ide)
- Repeat this for the second 'Download IDE' button in the list.
Checking that Sophos Anti-Virus on an individual computer has the latest protection
- At the taskbar, select Start|Programs|Sophos
Anti-Virus |SophosAnti-Virus - On the Help menu, select 'About'
- Check that you are running the most recent version of Sophos
Anti-Virus - Click 'OK'
- In the Sophos
Anti-Virus details pane, you will be told which IDE files SophosAnti-Virus is using - Scroll down and check that the two most recent IDE files are loaded.
Checking that Sophos Anti-Virus has the latest protection in EM Library and SAVAdmin
- Either open SAVAdmin directly, or open it in EM Library:
- At the taskbar, select Start|Programs|Sophos Enterprise Manager|Sophos EM Library Console
- Click 'Start SAVAdmin'.
- Browse to your network.
- To check that individual computers are using the latest version on your network, check the rollout number. The highest number is the most recent.
- To check that the two latest IDEs are being used, check the list of IDEs used by a computer displaying the most recent rollout number:
- Right-click the computer
- Select 'Properties'
- In the SAV data tab, scroll down and check that the two most recent IDE files are loaded.
