Enabling File and Printer Sharing with Windows XP Service Pack 2 (SP2) and Windows 2003 Service Pack 1 (SP1)
When Windows XP Service Pack 2 (SP2), or Windows 2003 Service Pack 1 (SP1), is installed, 'File and Printer Sharing' may be disabled by default in the Windows Firewall. In some circumstances, you will need to enable 'File and Printer Sharing'.
What to do
To enable 'File and Printer Sharing' in Windows XP Service Pack 2 (SP2) or Windows 2003 Service Pack 1 (SP1):
- Open Windows Firewall
- Click the Exceptions tab
- Select 'File and Printer Sharing'
- Click 'OK' to confirm.
