If you have set up a website on a Windows XP computer with Service Pack 2 (SP2) installed, or a Windows 2003 computer with Service Pack 1 (SP1), you will need to allow HTTP (web) traffic through port 80.

What to do

To allow web traffic through the Windows Firewall, you must add an exception as follows:

  1. Open Windows Firewall
  2. select the Exceptions tab
  3. click 'Add Port'
  4. in 'Name:' type:
    HTTP
  5. in 'Port number:' type:
    80
  6. click 'OK' twice to confirm.
