| Vendor description | This security update resolves five privately reported vulnerabilities and one publicly disclosed vulnerability in Internet Explorer. The most severe vulnerabilities could allow remote code execution if a user views a specially crafted Web page using Internet Explorer. Users whose accounts are configured to have fewer user rights on the system could be less impacted than users who operate with administrative user rights. |
| SophosLabs comments | The vulnerabilities largely pertain to how Internet Explorer: - performs data caching and incorrectly renders the cached content as HTML, thereby potentially bypassing Internet Explorer domain restrictions - handles content using specific strings when sanitizing HTML - accesses an uninitialized/deleted object or incorrectly initialized memory location and results in memory corruption that can be exploited SophosLabs has not seen any reports with regards to exploitation of the above listed vulnerabilities and regards this threat level to Medium. |
