Sophos Anti-Virus SBE: Virus identity files
Virus identity (IDE) files are files which give Sophos
- IDE files are written using Sophos's proprietary Virus Description Language (VDL). They consist of printable ASCII characters.
- IDE files are cross-platform. All different operating system versions of Sophos
Anti-Virus can use the same IDE file. - Sophos
Anti-Virus SBE is automatically updated with IDE files as soon as they are released.
You can check to see which IDE files have been loaded.
What to do
- Windows 2000, Windows XP, Windows 2003 computers, IDE files loaded are listed in 'Product Information'.
- Right-click the Sophos shield icon, in the system tray on the bottom right of your screen, and select 'Open Sophos
Anti-Virus '. - In the 'Help and Information' panel, click 'View product information'.
- Right-click the Sophos shield icon, in the system tray on the bottom right of your screen, and select 'Open Sophos
- Windows 98 and Windows Me, IDE files loaded are listed in the Sophos log (by default C:\Program Files\Sophos\Sophos
