You can check that auto-updating is working in Sophos
What to do
To check that auto-updating is working, do as follows:
- Checking that downloads are taking place
- Open the Sophos Control Center
- the time of the last download from Sophos is displayed at the bottom of the Sophos Control Center window (it should be within the last hour)
- Checking that computers are updating from the Sophos Control Center
- Open the Sophos Control Center
- 'Protection' will be listed as 'Up to date' for all protected computers.
- Checking at a Windows 2000/XP/2003 workstation
- At the taskbar, select Start|Settings|Control Panel|Services.
- Select the Sophos AutoUpdate service.
- Ensure that 'System Account' is checked under 'Log On As'.
- Ensure that 'Allow Service to Interact with Desktop' is selected.
- Checking at any workstation
- Ensure that the most recent IDE files have been loaded.
To check for updates made available since the last automatic update, and to update the network manually:
- Open the Sophos Control Center
- In the left-hand pane, select the Action menu
- Click 'Update Now'
- If necessary, click 'OK' to download the latest software.
To update individual computers manually from the Sophos Control Center:
- Open the Sophos Control Center
- Hold down the 'Control' key
- Click the computers you want to update
- Right-click the group of computers
- Select 'Update'.
