Question

Why does the system does not resume from Standby mode properly after installation of SafeGuard Easy?

Answer

As of SafeGuard Easy 4.40.2, you may apply the following setting during installation or update, if your system does not resume from Standby mode properly (e.g. not resuming at all or restarting):

In order to address the Standby problem, a property variable called EMEM='offset' needs to be included in the setup routine.

Setup EMEM=1024 advises the Pre-Boot code to pass its parameter block 1024 bytes below the boundary that is indicated in the BIOS.

Example:

msiexec /i c:\Install\sgeasy.msi /qn /L*vx C:\Install\SGEASY_INST.log CFGFILE=C:\Install\Install.cfg ADDLOCAL=Sgeasy,Encryption,SGSAL EMEM=1024

EMEM has a valid range from 1 to 16383 bytes.

Please note that you may configure this offset only during installation or migration. The value can be found in the registry under the same value name. It serves for information purposes only. Subsequent changes of this value have no effect!

For more information about installing SafeGuard Easy using the command line, please refer to the user manual under the chapter titled "Central Installation". The migration process is described in chapter five "update".

Please note that a configuration file (respectively migration file) is necessary to install (respectively update) SafeGuard Easy unattended.

If you do not want to install SafeGuard Easy unattanded you can use the following process:

Open a CMD windows. Go to the path where the SafeGuard Easy install files are stored.

Type setup.exe EMEM=1024

The SafeGuard Easy will go through the normal installation process.
