Virus identity (IDE) files: using on Macintosh computers
This product is nearing retirement. We strongly recommend that you upgrade in order to ensure your protection stays fully up to date.
Using Sophos
What to do
Updating a single workstation
- Copy the IDE files into the System Folder|Preferences|Sophos folder.
- If the InterCheck on-access scanner is installed, restart the Macintosh to load the new identities.
- If the on-demand scanner only is installed, launch it (or re-launch it) to load the new identities.
Updating a server
Note: Old IDE files are not automatically deleted from a Central Installation Directory (CID). Delete them before adding IDEs for the correct version.
- Delete any old IDE files from the macinst|IDE folder on the server containing the CID.
- Copy the IDE files into the macinst|IDE folder on the server.
- The on-demand scanner checks for new IDE files each time it is launched.
- The InterCheck on-access scanner checks each time the Macintosh is started.
- You will be prompted to restart the Macintosh, or re-launch the on-demand scanner, as appropriate.
How to confirm that the IDE files have been loaded
