Virus Identity (IDE) files: Using on OpenVMS

Using Sophos Anti-Virus virus identity (IDE) files on OpenVMS.

What to do

Note: Old IDE files are not automatically deleted from Central Installation Directories (CIDs). You should delete them and replace them with IDEs for the correct version.

  1. If VSWEEP_AUX_DIR is defined, then copy the IDE files into the specified directory. Otherwise copy them into the directory containing the VSWEEP executable.
  2. Run VSWEEP, restarting any instances if necessary.

How to confirm that the IDE files have been loaded in OpenVMS

  • When VSWEEP is loaded, it will display 'Using additional viruses from <n>IDE files'.
  • This message is also generated by the InterCheck server on startup if the reporting level is set to 5.
  • Running VSWEEP /VER will report which IDE files are in use.
