Windows NT/2000/XP/2003
In Windows NT/2000/XP/2003 you will also need to edit the following registry entry. The removal of this entry is optional in Windows 95/98/Me. Please read the warning about editing the registry.
At the taskbar, click Start|Run. Type 'Regedit' and press Return. The registry editor opens.
Before you edit the registry, you should make a backup. On the 'Registry' menu, click 'Export Registry File'. In the 'Export range' panel, click 'All', then save your registry as Backup.
Locate the HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE entry:
HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Run\
MsMovies
<Program Files>\MsMovies\MsMovies.exe /auto
and delete it if it exists.
Close the registry editor.

W32/Alcra-E is a worm for the Windows platform which may arrive disguised as a Windows Media Player file.
W32/Alcra-E spreads via file sharing on P2P networks.
W32/Alcra-E includes functionality to download, install and run new malware executables.
Once executed W32/Alcra-E displays the following fake error message:

Message text: Codec Error : 60034 Please Check Codec Exists
W32/Alcra-E also drops W32/Rbot-BJU. W32/Alcra-E is a worm for the Windows platform which may arrive disguised as a Windows Media Player file.

When first run W32/Alcra-E copies itself to <Program Files>\MsMovies\MsMovies.exe and <Program Files>\MsMovies\v.tmp and creates the following files:
<Program Files>\MsMovies\p.zip
<System>\winlogi.ex
<System>\cmd.com
<System>\netstat.com
<System>\ping.com
<System>\regedit.com
<System>\taskkill.com
<System>\tasklist.com
<System>\tracert.com
where p.zip is a zipped copy of the Trojan, winlogi.exe is detected as W32/Rbot-BJU and the rest files are used to prevent execution of the applications with the corresponded name.
The following registry entry is created to run MsMovies.exe on startup:
HKLM\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Run
