W32/Whipser-B is a network worm and IRC backdoor Trojan for the Windows platform.

When first run, the worm copies itself to the Windows system folder with the filename rundll32.exe. In order to run on system startup, W32/Whipser-B creates the following registry entry:

HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Run\
Windows DLL Loader = <path>

The backdoor component joins an IRC channel and awaits commands from a remote user. The backdoor component can be instructed to perform the following actions:

take part in a DDoS attack
log keypresses
capture data from webcam/screen
upload/download files
execute, rename, delete and copy files
send system information (hardware, filesystem, processes)
start a socks4 proxy server
redirect TCP traffic (IP spoofing)
