More Information
W32/Sdbot-AET is a worm with IRC backdoor functionality for the Windows platform.
W32/Sdbot-AET spreads to other network computers by exploiting common buffer overflow vulnerabilities, including PNP (MS05-039).
The following patches for the operating system vulnerabilities exploited by W32/Sdbot-AET can be obtained from the Microsoft website:
W32/Sdbot-AET runs continuously in the background, providing a backdoor server which allows a remote intruder to gain access and control over the computer via IRC channels.
When first run W32/Sdbot-AET copies itself to <Windows system folder>\hrnsvc32.exe.
The following registry entries are created to run hrnsvc32.exe on startup:
