Please follow the instructions for removing worms.

Editing Win.ini

At the taskbar, click Start|Run and type Sysedit. Bring Win.ini to the front. In the [windows] section, search for a line beginning with 'Run=' and delete any references to the files you removed. Delete only that reference, not any other text.

Reboot your computer.

Windows NT/2000/XP/2003

In Windows NT/2000/XP/2003 you will also need to edit the following registry entry for each user who ran the virus. The removal of this entry is optional in Windows 95/98/Me. Please read the warning about editing the registry.

At the taskbar, click Start|Run. Type 'Regedit' and press Return. The registry editor opens.

Before you edit the registry, you should make a backup. On the 'Registry' menu, click 'Export Registry File'. In the 'Export Range' panel, click 'All', then save your registry as Backup.

Each user has a registry area named HKEY_USERS\[code number indicating user]\. For each user locate the entry:

HKU\[code number]\Software\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\Windows\
run = <Windows system>\dec25.exe

and delete it if it exists.

Close the registry editor.

W32/Atak-J is an email worm for the Windows platform.

When executed the worm copies itself to the file dec25.exe in the Windows system folder and may create the following autorun registry entry:

HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\Windows\
run = <Windows system>\dec25.exe

The worm will also add run = <Windows system>\dec25.exe to the C:\Windows\win.ini configuration file under the [windows] section.

W32/Atak-J will scan the local hard-drive to find email addresses and will send itself to these with the following characteristics:
