Please follow the instructions for removing Trojans.
Windows NT/2000/XP/2003
In Windows NT/2000/XP/2003 you will also need to edit the following registry entries. The removal of these entries is optional in Windows 95/98/Me. Please read the warning about editing the registry.
At the taskbar, click Start|Run. Type 'Regedit' and press Return. The registry editor opens.
Before you edit the registry, you should make a backup. On the 'Registry' menu, click 'Export Registry File'. In the 'Export range' panel, click 'All', then save your registry as Backup.
Locate the HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE entries:
HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Run\
(357AA41A-B7A8-4632-A27D-5B980B25CF43)
HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Run\
AdRotator.Application;
HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Run\
SuperBar.Component
and remove any reference to any file you deleted.
Close the registry editor.
More Information
Troj/Small-AQ is a Trojan that prompts the user to download a spyware scanner but redirects the URL to a site selling pornographic videos.
When started the Trojan copies itself to the the following locations:
%WINDOWS%\SYSTEM32\DRIVERS\csrss.exe
%WINDOWS%\SYSTEM32\inetsrv\services.exe
%WINDOWS%\SYSTEM32\wbem\svchost.exe
The following registry entries are also created so the Trojan is auto-loaded on user logon or system reboot:
HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Run\
(357AA41A-B7A8-4632-A27D-5B980B25CF43) = <path to svchost.exe>
HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Run\
AdRotator.Application = <path to csrss.exe>
HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Run\
SuperBar.Component = <path to services.exe>
Once active, the Trojan will display a dialog box requesting confirmation. Upon clicking 'OK' the Trojan opens an Internet Explorer window and loads a remote website.
