Troj/Maran-I is a Trojan for the Windows platform.

Troj/Maran-I includes functionality to access the internet and communicate with a remote server via HTTP.

When Troj/Maran-I is installed the following files are created:

<Windows folder>\smss.exe
<Windows system folder>\delmeml.bat
<Windows system folder>\ou2sound.dll
<Windows system folder>\zzt.exe

The file zzt.exe is not a malicous file, it is a packing utility.

The file <Windows folder>\smss.exe is registered as a new system driver service named "NETDown", with a display name of "Card Adapter" and a startup type of automatic, so that it is started automatically during system startup. Registry entries are created under:

HKLM\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\NETDown\
