Troj/Hupigon-U is a Trojan for the Windows platform.

Troj/Hupigon-U includes functionality to access the internet and communicate with a remote server via HTTP.

When first run Troj/Hupigon-U copies itself to <Windows>\imsins.exe and creates the following files:

<Windows>\imsins.dll
<Windows>\imsins_Hook.DLL

The files imsins.dll and imsins_Hook.DLL are detected as Troj/Feutel-P.

The file imsins.exe is registered as a new system driver service named "cnn", with a display name of "bbc" and a startup type of automatic, so that it is started automatically during system startup. Registry entries are created under:

HKLM\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\cnn\

Troj/Hupigon-U changes settings for Microsoft Internet Explorer by modifying values under:

HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main\
