More Information

Troj/Gampass-E is a Trojan for the Windows platform which aims to steal login credentials for certain online games.

Troj/Gampass-E attempts to terminate certain security related processes.

When first run Troj/Gampass-E copies itself to <Temp>\mhs2.exe and creates the file <Temp>\mhs2.dll, which is also detected as Troj/Gampass-E.

In order to run automatically when Windows starts up Troj/Gampass-E creates the following registry entry:

HKLM\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Run
mhs2
<Temp>\mhs2.exe

Sophos's anti-virus products include Behavioral Genotype™ Protection, which can proactively guard against new threats without requiring an update. Sophos customers have been protected against main dropper component of Troj/Gampass-E (detected as Mal/Packer) since version 4.10.
