Troj/Agent-ECW is a Trojan for the Windows platform.

When first run Troj/Agent-ECW copies itself to:

\buff.exe
<System>\main

and creates the following files:

<System>\algserv.exe
<System>\backmain
<System>\svcmain.exe
<System>\vrsserv.exe

The following registry entry is created to run buff.exe on startup:

HKLM\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\RunOnce
SysMain
C:\buff.exe

The following registry entry is changed to run vrsserv.exe on startup:

HKLM\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\Winlogon
Userinit
<System>\Userinit.exe,<System>\vrsserv.exe

The file algserv.exe is registered as a new system driver service named "algserv", with a display name of "Application Layer Service" and a startup type of automatic, so that it is started automatically during system startup. Registry entries are created under:

HKLM\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\algserv

The file svcmain.exe is registered as a new system driver service named "wmserv", with a display name of "Windows Management Services" and a startup type of automatic, so that it is started automatically during system startup. Registry entries are created under:
