New Sophos podcast discusses server virtualization Senior technologist explores new virtualization security technologies

IT security and control firm Sophos, today announced that it has published a new podcast exploring the security issues associated with server virtualization.

In the podcast, James Lyne from the technology office at Sophos, is interviewed by Carole Theriault about the existing security risks to virtualized server systems, and how new virtualization security technologies may help to overcome virtualization-specific attacks.

Server virtualization allows for the consolidation of physical resources, by layering multiple systems on a piece of hardware managed by a hypervisor. Lyne explains how the hypervisor can be exploited to circumvent the system in new ways for the purpose of hacking attacks.

"While virtualization streamlines the use of resource and frees up budget, IT administrators would be wise to think about the associated security concerns," said Carole Theriault, host of the Sophos podcasts. "This podcast provides a fresh perspective on the hot topic of virtualization, highlighting rather fundamental security vectors, and offers tips to help you safeguard your network from malicious attacks."

All Sophos podcasts are available for download at www.sophos.com/podcasts. Previous podcasts have covered topics such as image spam, phishing, Microsoft Windows Vista, corporate security policies, network access control, and rootkits.
