Latest Sophos podcast asks whether protection is just about virus detection Global Director of SophosLabs discusses if high malware detection rates really does mean better protection.

SophosLabs director Mark Harris talks about anti-virus testing.
IT security and control firm Sophos, today announced that it has published a new podcast about anti-virus testing.
With administrators looking to independent anti-virus tests to select the right solution for their business network, Mark Harris, Global Director of SophosLabs, highlights the pros and cons of relying just on detection rates as an indicator for the best level of protection.
"Companies are looking for an honest and impartial guide to choosing the right security solution for their network, but there are so many different types of tests available, it's just too confusing," said Yogi Parmar, producer of Sophos podcasts. "Of course detection rates are important, but administrators also need to consider costs, management, support and the infrastructure behind updates, before buying a recommended offering."
The podcast provides details of recommended testing bodies, such as Virus Bulletin's VB100, West Coast Labs and AV-Test.org.
